How to Print From iPhone via Airprint – You Should Know

Printing from an iPhone is not nearly as difficult as you may think. There are a number of apps that are compatible with various printers and with direct Wi-Fi technology, you email documents to your printer and print them out instantly. Much has changed since Apple first introduced AirPrint. The early versions only allowed for a small handful of HP printers. If your printer did not support this app then you were just out of luck.

Today however, there are numerous options for those who want to print directly from their iPhones. AirPrint is supported by a wide selection of wireless printers and many printer manufacturers now offer their own iPhone printing applications. Third party printer apps have also improved so there are numerous choices and not all of them are going to be as costly as the original versions. Many wireless printers feature their own email address so you simply have to email documents or images directly to the printer and they will automatically print. You can be halfway around the world and print directly from your home printer.

If you are printing from AirPrint, you can now use HP printers as well as those from Canon, Lexmark, Samsung, Brother, Dell and Ricoh. The functionality of printing using AirPrint has not changed but the number of printers that support it has changed drastically over the last two years. As long as your iPhone is a 3GS or later model, you can use AirPrint and the app works with iPods and iPads as well.

AirPrint enables you to print documents from a number of Apple programs. Whether you are using iPhoto, Mail, Photos or Safari, you should have no problem getting those documents on paper. You can also use a wide selection of third party apps that are now AirPrint enabled, although you should check to ensure that the app is actually supported before you attempt to print. Not all third party apps are going to offer AirPrint capability.

In order to print, you just have to open the document in the program that you want to print from and access Share. Once you have accessed this button you should be presented with the printing option in addition to social media sharing options. Just select the print option and you should instantly see the printer screen. You have to select the printer that you want to print from and the application will begin searching for AirPrint compatible printers that are enabled on your Wi-Fi network.

Note that the printer does have to be on the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone in order for printing to be enabled. With the addition of many new printing technologies and the release of various printers from different manufacturers that are now compatible with AirPrint, it is easier than ever to print out documents directly from your iPhone and many of the applications that allow for this printing are completely free. If you are unsure of whether or not your printer is compatible, just read through the guide that came with it or do a quick internet search for the type of printer that you have.
